Ultimate Apurímac River Rafting Adventure

After an early breakfast at your hotel, we depart from Cusco towards the Inca bridge of Huajachaca, an ancient trade route connecting the Pacific coast and Cusco. Upon arrival at 2,100 meters, we meet our professional rafting guides and gear up for the adventure. After a safety briefing, we tackle class II-III rapids, passing by remnants of Inca bridges used for centuries.

We set up camp by the river, where you can enjoy a hearty dinner by the campfire under a star-filled sky.

Approximate Schedule:

• 07:00 AM – Transfer from Cusco to Apurímac River.
• 12:00 PM – Arrive at Huajachaca.
• 02:30 PM – Safety briefing and rafting session (2 hours).
• 04:30 PM – Set up camp and enjoy a sunset by the river.

Distance:

• First 5 kms to Rocoto village with a gentle downhill.
• Last 5 kms to reach the river with more inclined down hill.

Wake up to the sounds of nature and enjoy a nutritious breakfast before continuing our journey. As we navigate calmer waters, admire breathtaking waterfalls and the Santo Tomás River, a key tributary of the Apurímac. Keep an eye out for river otters, deer, cormorants, torrent ducks, and Andean birds.

After lunch on a sandy beach, we take on exciting class III rapids, passing ancient suspended Inca bridges and reaching the famous “Three Condors” rapid before setting up camp for the night.

• 04:30 PM – Arrive at campsite and relax by the beach.

Our final day begins with an exciting stretch of class III-IV rapids, offering a thrilling conclusion to our adventure. We will also take time to explore hidden waterfalls and secluded river creeks before reaching the final take-out point. After a farewell lunch at a scenic viewpoint, we embark on a 4-hour drive back to Cusco, where we drop you off at your hotel.
