Start your adventure by departing from Arequipa (2325 m.a.s.l.) towards the Colca Valley. As you travel through the Andean highlands, you’ll be captivated by the stunning landscape of the Pampa Cañahuas National Reserve (3800 m.a.s.l.), where you can observe wild vicuñas, alpacas, and llamas grazing peacefully.
The journey continues to Patapampa (4800 m.a.s.l.), the highest point on the route, where you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of majestic volcanoes, including Ampato, Sabancaya, and Misti — a natural spectacle that will leave you breathless.
⏰ 2:00 PM – Arrival in Yanque
We arrive at the charming village of Yanque (3400 m.a.s.l.), where you’ll be welcomed by a local family. You’ll stay in a cozy private house managed by the kind and talented Hilda, renowned for her warm hospitality and delicious home-cooked meals.
In the afternoon, we’ll take a walk to visit the ancient ruins of Uyo-Uyo, where you’ll discover pre-Inca agricultural terraces and colcas—stone storage structures used to preserve food in pre-Columbian times. Afterward, you can unwind in the Yanque hot springs, whose mineral-rich waters are known for their relaxing and rejuvenating properties.

Day 2: Condor’s Flight and Return to Arequipa
🕗 Breakfast: 6:00 AM
Start your day with a nourishing breakfast made with fresh, local ingredients. We then head to the famous Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor (Condor Viewpoint), where you’ll witness the breathtaking sight of the Andean condors gliding gracefully on thermal currents above the canyon. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to observe one of the world’s largest birds in its natural habitat.
From the viewpoint, you’ll also appreciate the sheer depth and expanse of the Colca Canyon—a vast and rugged natural wonder surrounded by green slopes, snow-capped peaks, and a clear blue sky.
On the way back, we’ll stop at several picturesque villages in the Colca Valley, where you can explore the colonial architecture and experience the local way of life. We’ll pass through Chivay, the provincial capital, where you’ll have time for lunch and to browse local markets for handicrafts and souvenirs.
