Huayhuash is one of the most isolated mountain ranges of the world, with overwhelming views of glistening vertical walls of ice, rock and snow. The colorful waters of the beautiful lakes found in this circuit reflects the bizarre Yerupajá (6634m), Jerupajá Chico (6121m), Jirishanca (6094m), Rondoy (5879m), Sarapo (6127m), Siulá Grande (6344m), and Siulá Chico (6265m) among others.
After breakfast, we will leave Huaraz in our private bus toward the north side of the city. We will go by the beautiful towns of the Callejón de Huaylas, to arrive to the city of Yungay, where we turn east toward the ravine of Llanganuco, place where you will appreciate the famous lagoons of Llanganuco. 20 minutes later we arrive to cebollapampa, place where begin our trek of 3 hours approximately toward the lagoon 69. We will stay approximately 1 hour at this lagoon to return to Cebollapampa and then we will take the bus to the city of Huaraz.
Overnight in Huaraz.
We will leave Huaraz in our private bus toward the east side of Huaraz, to know one of the most beautiful lagoons in the National Park Huascarán, located in the White Mountain Range (Cordillera Blanca).
We will go by the picturesque towns of Unchus and Llupa, arriving at the base camp of Pitec (3 850 m), a place where the bus will leave us to begin with our trek of 3 hours approximately.
We will begin our trekking for the ravine Churup, arriving at the lagoon of Churup, we will be there approximately for one hour, we appreciate the variation of color of the lagoon, according to the setting of the sun, we will also appreciate the south-west face of Churup Mountain, and the biodiversity of the flora and wild fauna. We return to Huaraz.
Overnight in Huaraz.
We drive up across the Santa River Valley where we admire the magnificent Cordillera Blanca, perennially snowed peaks; in the way crossing the typical towns of Recuay, Ticapampa and Catac.
We arrive at the Conococha lake where we observe migratory Andean birds like the flamingo or Parihuana which nest in the lake during their migration. From here we can observe the impressive Cordillera Huayhuash. We descend to Chiquian town (3,400 masl), and continue to drive until Rondoy and after a short hike we set our camp (4,100 masl).
This morning we hike ascending Sanbunya Pass (4750 m), we admire the magnificent snowed peaks of Rondoy (5,870 msnm), Hirishanca (6,094 msnm) y Yerupajá (6,634 msnm) y Ratzac (6,017 msnm).
After descending we arrive at turquoise Jahuacocha Lake, one of the jewels of the Cordillera Huayhuash. We set up our campsite at 4,050 masl. We have the opportunity to enjoy the regional fauna, among them varieties of Andean ducks, Andean Ibis, and high altitude flora.
In the morning we leave Jahuacocha passing along lupinus tre. We admire the Hirishanca iced peak, and the beautiful Jahuacocha and Solteracocha lakes. We arrive at the beautiful Rasac Cocha Lake (4,650 msnm) in the base of an impressive glacier.
After lunch we return to our camp in Jahuacocha.
Today we pass along some small patches of forests of the endangered Queñua tree, one of the few species of trees that grow at this altitude. The Queñua tree has been heavily used since colonial times for its fine quality in producing the world’s best organic charcoal, posing a challenge to its preservation.
We are fortunate to observe the mountainscape scenery of both, the Cordillera Huayhuash and the Cordillera Blanca while we have a long descent to Llamac (3300 m), where our car will be waiting to transfer us to Huaraz, and our hotel.

After a relaxing breakfast we transfer out.
