Cajamarca conjures up images of fertile fields stretching along the roadside and climbing up the hillsides and across the highland plains and ravines.
This tour also includes a visit to the Kuelap Fortress (altitude: 3,000 meters), in the cloudy forest of the department of Amazonas, Kuelap is proof of the Chachapoya’s engineering skills, a tribe who inhabited the area from 1000-1400 AD.
Private transfer to the town of Chillo. Before arriving at Chillo we will make a stop in Celendin, beautiful village popular for its straw crafts. We will then continue our trip towards the Marañon; we will appreciate the change of the landscape and climate. Arrival at Chillo. Dinner and overnight stay in a lodge.
Breakfast and departure to Kuelap. The citadel of Kuelap is made of stone, but unlike Inca architecture, featured fantastic and animal figures, and changed the traditional pattern of geometric designs. The common buildings at the Fortress of Kuelap were circular, and some of these have been reconstructed so that the few visitors who come here (due to the difficult access) can see how the people lived here, amidst orchids and bromeliads. Lunch.
Return to Chillo for dinner.
Overnight stay in a lodge.
Breakfast. Then we will visit San Pedro ruins, a magnificent pre Inca citadel with 200 rooms all made of stone. We will explore this site, its patios and plazas, ceremonial passages, and altars; some get to have up of three floors. It is remarkable its central patio, ceremonial passages and altars. Lunch.
Return to Chillo for dinner.
Overnight stay in a lodge.
Breakfast and transfer to the airport or bus station.

Huayhuash is one of the most isolated mountain ranges of the world, with overwhelming views of glistening vertical walls of ice, rock and snow. The colorful waters of the beautiful lakes found in this circuit reflects the bizarre Yerupajá (6634m), Jerupajá Chico (6121m), Jirishanca (6094m), Rondoy (5879m), Sarapo (6127m), Siulá Grande (6344m), and Siulá Chico (6265m) among others.
Founded by Spanish Conqueror Francisco Pizarro in 1539, the old city of San Juan de la Frontera de Huamanga (Saint John of the Frontier of Huamanga) features countless attractions for the tourist, and is the ideal starting point to explore the rest of the department of Ayacucho.
Andahuaylas (3200 m.a.s.l.) is situated 180 km. west of Cusco and is the capital of the department of Apurimac.
Greatest attraction of this area are its landscapes, the warmth of its people, diverse archaeological remains, and typical villages.
